Cranefly

Description

The cranefly does not fit into one of the neat categories of dry flies. This could be part of the reason they are most often ignored by fly fishers. But they are enormously common in the Pacific Northwest, and California as well as the UK, and other places. They are horrible flyers and are loved by trout, really what more could you ask for in a fly. They are very common on smaller streams.
