A required complement to the legendary Adams. Imitates the plethora of dun brown and gray mayflies, add the yellow butt section to imitate a female with eggs. The Adams is one of the most successful dry fly patterns of all time. The Female is tied with a yellow butt section to imitate an egg sac. Can be used to imitate a plethora of mayfly hatches, including baetis, callibaetis, and the drakes. Also used for caddis in-flight, and just a general “cast and see.” Often times the first dry fly we cast, especially when nothing obvious is going on. Adams was invented by Leonard Halladay in 1922, and named after his fly fishing friend Charles Adams.
