Now we can’t get you all excited about the upcoming salmonfly and stonefly hatches, and only send you one new pattern to try out. The Bandit Salmonfly is that should help improve your dry fly catch rate. This is one of those patterns that may need some slight modifying to fit your needs, however, it is also great as is. Made from a foam body so no need to worry about floatant. The foam is left untrimmed in the front, so if skating flies is your thing this pattern should move some water. The tail is left longer for a bit more attraction, however, a pair of nippers can clip it shorter if that is your preference. Additionally the fly is hackled quite nicely with brown dry fly hackle. Leave the hackle as is and let this pattern “dance” across the water (much like when they lay eggs). Or trim the hackle and allow the pattern to lay flat on the water (as a bug depleted of energy would do).
