A CDC is typically used on dry flies as it naturally floats fairly well. However, on nymphs it can create an incredible amount of movement that can give off a look of emergence in a bug. Add the flashback with the beadhead and you have a bug that is looking to leave the water fast while fish will be trying to stop it before it does.
